Ledger® Live Desktop is the official desktop application for managing hardware wallet devices from Ledger®. It provides a local, secure interface to view balances, send and receive crypto assets, install apps on your device, and interact with third-party DeFi services while keeping your private keys offline on the hardware device.
Download Ledger® Live Desktop only from the official Ledger® site. Choose the correct OS package (Windows .exe, macOS .dmg, or Linux .AppImage). Typical steps:
Ledger® Live authenticates via your hardware device — there is no cloud-stored private key inside Ledger® Live. To log in, connect your Ledger® device, unlock it with your PIN, and confirm the device connection. Ledger® Live will then display accounts derived from your recovery phrase (24 words).
If Ledger® Live login not working, check these:
Ledger® and Trezor are separate hardware ecosystems. You cannot use a Trezor seed directly inside Ledger® Live. If you want to access Trezor accounts, use Trezor Suite or a compatible third-party wallet that supports both devices. Do NOT share your recovery phrase between devices — that exposes risk.
Ledger® recovery relies solely on your 24-word recovery phrase. If you lose your device, restore using the same phrase on a new Ledger® device (or compatible BIP39 device). There is no centralized 2FA reset — Ledger® Live doesn’t use server-side 2FA for your private keys. If you use third-party services (exchanges) with 2FA, manage those separately.
